Mishaps

I fought for ice-cream.  Grandpa loves ice-cream. Since he is bed, and cannot enjoy much beyond eating, grandma buys it for him, and also tries to cook what he likes. This means I've been eating lots of ice-cream, too, and plenty of fried chicken. From the first box, I was greedy and ate 7 small ice-creams. Grandma, grandpa and I are in Chizatau with the goats and Ruxandra and Edward are in Lugoj. When Edward came to visit I became very angry when he tried to eat his second ice-cream and swore I've only had one. He had dropped haft of his first on the floor, and still felt entitled to more. He took another one independent of my protests, and dropped it again, and then a third. At last Ruxandra had to intervene to stop the fight. He was wasting them. I broke the glass from the door with a brick. Even though I am 11, I still throw pretty bad temper tantrums. I was supposed to go on a school trip to a pool in Orastie with Frau Roxi and the rest of my classmates. I wanted a...

A regular day between Lugoj and Chizatau

This morning the therapist came. After his session ended, we wanted to take grandpa to Chizatau. I took the wheelchair down the steps, and Ruxandra put some long pieces of wood as a ramp. But we decided not to go, because grandma needed to buy materials for the roof in Chizatau and for that she needed the big car. Many storms are expected this summer and we want to make it leak less than last year. So, instead, we went for a walk with Andy and bought some fence to finish the enclosure for Piki, our tortoise. It was 4 lei/meter and Ruxandra got 10 meters just in case. Piki's enclosure was only 2 meters short.  When we came back Andy drove us to Chizatau. We put Rainbow and her kittens in the car. I held onto Rainbow, while her kittens were behind us in a box. It was very sunny and they were  all panting, and trying to escape. They were climbing on our backs because their box had been James' bathtub and there is no way to close it. All this freaked Andy out. He sped a littl...

freedom fighter - Julian Assange

I've seen they are trying to lock Julian Assange for good. He is still stuck in the embassy, but he is now without internet because of pressure from the US. Ruxandra says such actions are wrong. Freedom of speech and transparency when governing should be something the US strives for instead of striving at closing the mouth of the press by killing a very capable person who tried to change the world. I am American and I am ashamed America takes decisions like this. The America I could be proud of would hire Julian Assange and learn from him instead of shutting his mouth off. He was mistreated enough that it's hard to go back and be fair now. Still so much money is being spent on mistreating this one person that could be put to better use. If I can understand this, and I am eleven, why can't the rest of the world? why can't the (old and boring) people in power understand? perhaps they are too old, too boring, too bent in wrong directions to take just decisions?

Pacala, God and the origin bugs on Earth: stories from school

When I came home from school, I searched for and found Piki, our tortoise, again. It has grown a whole ring since she's been free. I think it eats grains and chicken poop, which is why I keep finding her in the chicken's enclosure. She pooped in my hand and it was very yucky! She also bit me. I don't think she likes being found and would rather be free. Then I had homework in Romanian. I had to do one more test. It had been a text about Pacala who sold his cow to a tree. The poem says it interpreted the wind as the tree bargaining -- Pacala first asks for 70 lei, then 40 lei, and ultimately leaves the cow there without forcing the tree to pay. Grandma says he simply left the cow by the oak tree because Pacala was too lazy to take the cow to the market and told his mother he sold it for nothing to cover himself. I am inclined to believe grandma's interpretation. I spend a lot of time moving form bed to bed and let grandma do all the work around the house. So, I unders...
